Coming back from my piano lesson (which is on Monday evenings after work), I almost always stop for this left turn at the intersection of the Pacific Coast Highway and Carmel Valley Road. From the light, you look down on Torrey Pines State Beach, the cliffs of Torrey Pines State Park (on the left), and the point that forms La Jolla (on the right).

Unfortunately, I only had a couple of seconds (because the light turned green!), and the camera autofocused on my hand and not the vista. D'oh!

Me and My New Sunscreen

I have really fair skin. Skin that I never paid much attention to growing up. Because of that, I’ve had to have a number of skin-nasties (actinic keratoses and even one squamous cell carcinoma) frozen-off or cut-out over the last couple of years.

My dermatologist says “Sunscreen every day”, but during the workday lathering or spraying on sunscreen made me feel disgusting by lunchtime, so I avoided it.

So the last time I went in for a check-up, she showed me a new product from iS Clinical – a powder sunscreen. No mess, no goop, no spray. It goes on with a brush applicator (that reminds me of old shaving cream brushes…). It’s clean and easy. I love it.

Now I sunscreen every day without a second thought. So, if you’re like me – need to sunscreen but hate the goop -- ask your doctor about it.

Well, after five or six years of the last ones, it was time for a style upgrade. I'm afraid that my look is not as "magazine worthy" as a couple of my neighbors, but I kind of like it.

Me and My New Tennis Racquet

Long shadows in the bright morning sun -- before it became too much of a scorcher. Its a Yonex RDS-002, plays pretty well. Less head-heavy than my previous racquet.

Me and My Ten-Minute Break

I know – a day late. Sorry about that.

I’d been carrying my camera around all day trying to come up with a good spot for Me and My Monday, and of course, yesterday ended up being pretty busy.

So I got out of work and hurried over to my piano lesson and got there in time that I actually had 10 minutes to chill before my lesson. The real upside is that my piano teacher lives about a block off the bluff in Del Mar. So here I am, getting a short respite in an otherwise busy Monday.
