Fire Update: Staying Put For Now

Hey there -- below is the visible satellite from San Diego county, where you can see the smoke from the current wildfires.

We're in the middle of the two central fires. Folks nearby (a few miles away) have been evacuated, but so far we're ok. The cars are packed and we're ready if we have to go.

Lots of homes lost so far and the winds aren't likely to start dying off until tomorrow.

Will keep you posted.

This just makes me sick. Do they know how they started?

I love this part of the country more than any other part, and it makes me so sad to see it burning.

Gosh, I'm glad you posted this, btw. I keep forgetting that Brian's younger brother lives in San Diego now, and I just called Brian to tell him to check in with him.

I'm glad you posted too - I was wondering about you when I heard there were fires in SD. Good luck!

How awful this all is. I am glad you are packed & ready to go, just in case. You will be in my positive thoughts through all of this.

This is so much worse than I ever remember any fire being.
Over here on top of Mission Valley there is almost no wind (at least at my house) but I see it blowing like crazy on the news.
So sad to see all of this unfold.

I remember the last big fires a few years ago. I was working in a hotel in Mission Bay and we put up lots of families who had to be evacuated. Hope everything is alright for you:)

We're quite worried up here. I hope you don't have to evac and everyone else we know in the area is OK. I know folks in Rancho Bernardo, who are pretty much ready to leave

I'm down in south bay, so we're really just getting overwhelmed with ash and smoke. The Potrero fire is the closest.
